Little (but Big) Things That Could Make Your Week Better

You will notice I use the word "could" not "will". Using “could” serves as a take it or leave it while “will” gives an air of promise that one size fits all - which I believe (even when advertised with clothing)…is simply not true.

Over the years, I have dreaded Mondays. This even got worse when I worked in a very toxic work environment - a story for another blog.

After learning of and trying a few things here and there (and of course do not forget good ole experience), I have come to start enjoying the start of my week more (sans chaos) to maybe even becoming best friends with Monday!

Below is my spiel on a few little things I have learnt, tried and recommend:

Squeezing in chores during the week.

As much as me and chores are good pals, even I dislike obligated chores. I found that when I did my chores on Thursdays or spread it out over the weekdays such as tidying as I go, I was able to reclaim my weekends for purely what it is meant for - Stopping/Exisiting/Doing whatever the heck I want.

Picking out outfits for the week.

This helps avoid the "what do I wear today?" question. I found that so many pieces and outfits do not shine or get worn when I do not choose my outfits for the week because in the morning, I am in the “get to work on time and wear whatever looks good now” mode. While I do not actively pick out my outfits for the week anymore due to privileged remote work situation, I did enjoy doing it when I was an office goer beacuse it tapped into my creativity. Highly recommend doing this if you go into the office all week or most weekdays.

Setting an intention to accomplish something for me.

While our weeks are so focused on getting to work to do something that drives someone else's idea or agenda, your goals and dreams matter too. Therefore, it is important to have a task or two that realtes to you, your ambition and goals to accomplish out of the 7 days we have in a week.

Organizing my work desk space on Friday before you check out of work (mentally and physically).

Trust me on this one! You do not (or maybe you do, no judgement here!) want to get to work on Monday only to start your week in a chaotic space. Consider taking those last 15 minutes on Friday to organize your work space for the "ugh its Monday, I cannot deal" brain.

Prioritizing self appreciation (loving and care).

I love to show myself love (maybe a little bit too much). A reminder that without you, your dreams, goals and ambition are nothing or will not come to light (hard truth!), so take care of you by appreciating, caring and loving yourself in whatever way that authentically feels right. Afterall, we are stuck with one body and one life. Appreciating myself is something I have struggled carving time for but I am intentionally making efforts to get back to that in full force. On that note, APPRECIATE YOURSELF!

What makes your work week better? I would love to know about your tricks, learnings, hacks, and so on (No pressure)!.

Keep spilling,

Mairo
